ILTI, THE LIGHT FACTORY
In a semi-central area of the city, just a few blocks from the banks of the Dora, a company in the lighting sector, with a strong focus on research into new light sources, acquires an industrial building with a building for offices and a large square. A limited time passes from the first inspection to the transfer to the new location. With a MAAT Architecture project signed by the Arch. Martina Tabò, the transformation was articulated in phases, satisfying the needs linked to production. It was decided to act in parts, in rapid succession and to make this set of closed boxes permeable and passable.
The company opens up to visitors and designers. A new wide access is identified and paths are drawn that redesign the square.
A PATH IN THE COMPANY’S HISTORY
We continue inside, building an articulated path that makes its way between the work areas and accompanies the visitor through a sequence of spaces highlighted by light. The route is designed to preserve places of meeting, pause, decompression. It is a volume removed from individual offices to be inhabited by those who work and explored by those who visit. It goes into existing buildings, expands to tell the company’s history, unfolds on several levels, extends to wrap visitors and expose products to illuminate.

THE THEATER SQUARE FOR THE UNIVERSITY
Returning to the outside we rediscover the first of this series of relationship spaces, formed by an articulated wooden structure: a square-theater, designed to welcome and to meet, to walk and to rest. It is currently home to outdoor lectures at the Polytechnic University of Turin.
